This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
You're Killin Me, What do you mean by backside 8-tech/rover/flat defender?? If they are in zone coverage they are going to have a flat defender on the trips side. So you are saying if the flat defender that is supposed to be on the single receiver side lines up on the trips side, then the QB goes to the single side?
I would try to get the second man on trips to push the corner vertical. Get the inside receiver to run a post right at the safety, then have the outside man on trips run about a 10 yard curl inside. That receiver will find that he is always open. He will be in a soft spot. You can run this same play by having inside receiver run a wheel, second man runs a post, and the outside man running the curl. This will insure that the flat defender flies to the flat. A good reading qb can pick a cover three apart in Trips. If the CB reacts up or inside, then somebody is open deep. You have many plays that you could run to defeat it, this is just one. Good luck.
