Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
we play a team that gets in the offset, and does not run the counter(gt). we play a cheat 40 with our 3 to the offset back and our 1 to the opposite side. sam is walked to the numbers side. would we be sound letting mike key up on the fb. they mainly run the sweep, power, blast, and fb dive.
I can't believe an offense would off-set the FB and not run some type of counter or misdirection play to the backside, but if they don't you could bump all three of your backers to the off-set FB, play games with your SDE or like you mentioned play a 4i if it gets the job done. Based on the plays you mentioned you could have the MLB key the FB, but we don't play it that way because we see lots of counters - both FB and RB with an off-set FB. The MLB keys the back in his "window" which in the off-set I would be the RB. Once he gets flow from his key he checks the flow side guard. If the guard is "on" then he flows to his gap (strong C or weak B). If the guard is pulling the MLB pulls with the guard to take away the counter. Hope this helps.
