Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I did a lot of research on this earlier this season.
The "free kick" after a fair catch is legal in the NFL and in High School but is not permitted in college.
The opponent must align 10 yards back just like a kickoff, yet if you kick the ball through the uprights, you get 3 points. You would also line up as if kicking a KO, but you would have someone hold for your kicker.
Generally this would only be used at the end of a half when you have your opponent pinned deep and you fair catch their punt. You kick from the yard line the ball was caught on.
Also, the team who has fair caught the ball must elect to "free-kick". The kick must be "grounded", which means held in place. If a tee is allowed (high school) rules, the ball may be held on the tee (platform).

Does there need to be time showing on the clock? If the team punts it and the opposing team fair catches with 0 on the clock is the game over or do they still get the free kick situation with 0 showing?
That is a great question. I do not know the answer, and will find out. However, I assume that since the "free kick" is a timed play, that if the clock tics to zero, the half or game is over. As I said above, I will find out the definitive answer.

Were you ever able to find out the answer to jakeman's question? I'm like you in your opinion that if the clock has went to zero time remaining, it's over.
