Snap Count In The Gun

We do what pdow27 does, generally. We will go silent or on first sound especially when we are in a Single Wing look which is about 30% of our Gun package. Now when we play a particulary agressive defensive team that is also undisciplined up front, we have gone on as many as eight brfore. The QB and WR both read the defense, backside will run an uncalled route according to what the defense is giving us, front side will run the called play. QB will check both sides and then nod to the motion guy. The backside reciever will use a hand signal to tell the QB what route he is going to run. It really worked quite well once we got the qb to start throwing back side.

What we have a problem with is the defense calling our cadence. The officals down here won't call that to save their lives, so we had to go silent. It caused problems in the early stages of the year, but it got smoother as the year progressed. The key is to rep it, rep it, rep it.

After this, the center calls the snap count. He said it allowed his center to attack the defender much quicker when he called the snap count.

this is how we have done this, it works well
when we run jets out of the gun it takes some timing though, the center has to snap it at the right time
