Sprintout I like to bring my offensive line over to a full reach, which allows the QB to read the block of the playside tackle. If using two backs the fullback would track for playside LBer on a slow trigger and the Tailback would be on a read out. Coach CAmpbell
We follow the same basic principles that Coach Campbell described with one variation. If our PT feels by defensive alignment that he will be unable to obtain a full reach, he will alert the back and they will essentially exchange responsibilities. So, rather than tracking the PLB, the back will aggressively cut a wide 5 technique while the PT will then reset and track the PLB...I'm not suggesting that this is a more effective means, but it seems to work well for us as we instruct our QB that we want to get to a full sprint out. pdow

I just attended a clinic session on sprint out passing protection. The way he explained it and the way that we are implementing it is to have the OL block either front side or backside. It is much like "slide" protection. Each player steps to the gap either to or away from the backfield action. From center on back, they check their gap, and if nobody shows they hinge for the wide rusher(s).
We step to the play side gap on sprint out protection. We run sprint out to the TE or WB side and the TE or WB releases into the pattern. We use the fullback to block the playside DE.

With our sprint out game which is step over reach to a hinge makes the sprintout look like an outside zone scheme on the snap of the ball. Any uncovered linmen would pick any backside pressure up off the edge. Coach Campbell
