Stalk blocks are used for plays that run outside the tackles. Receiver should push the defender over him downfield until he reacts to run. Let the defender pick a side, screen him off by keeping the blockers butt pointed to the goal line, can use a hit and recoil at this point. The running back will read the stalk block and cut accordingly. When pushing the defender downfield and then comes out of his back pedal is when the receiver should break down. Some coaches will teach the receiver to keep a 3 to 4 yard cushion and then start to mirror the defender. Coach CAmpbell
