Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coach C or others, if you are using the near ear rule for say the inside zone to the left and the guard has a NG in his inside gap and a T in his outside gap... which man does he combo on?
So when you teach the RB's the inside and outside zone, do you show them situations when the ball will probably cutback? If so what kind of keys are they looking for? Gaps filled?
What you would get is the center blocking the shad nose and the guard blocking the tackle in his outside gap. If the tackle is a 3 tech the guard has him alone if the tackle is a 4i tech. then you get a combo with the guard and tackle. It would be a real tough block for the center on the shade nose, so thw ball would most certainly cut back.
I understand you now. So the rule is you always step playside if both gaps are covered? When you all teach the inside zone to your RB's do you teach them certain players to react to or do you just tell them to press the aiming point and you get one downhill cut to daylight?

We teach them prior pre-snap read. Find the shade playside and cut backside against the push. For our inside zone the aiming point is the outside hip of the guard and the QB pushes the ball straight back as not to show it to the LBers. Coach Campbell
