I am planning on installing the Gun offense this spring primarily out of a 4 wide set. Would appreciate any info. on the exact landmarks you guys use for the RB on the inside zone and stretch plays.

Brian for the stretch set the back at the same level as the QB with his inside foot over the outside foot of the guard. On the snap of the ball have him drop step with his inside foot with his running path at the outside hip of the guard far side, crossing over the in front of the QB (this is stretch). For Inside zone have the RB dropstep with playside foot and then have him square his shoulders to the LOS and don't cross the QB as he takes the back through his ride (this is inside). Coach CAmpbell
Brian, Coach Campbell's landmarks are great. We were having trouble hitting the cutback lane off the inside zone in gun.. We found out our landmark was to wide and we were crossing the QB's off the inside. If you tell him to square his shoulders as he receives the football he will not cross the QB's path and has the ability to hit the cutback lane.
Can you please elaborate on your RB's footwork running the zone? I am a little confused on the terminology your using "For Inside zone have the RB dropstep with playside foot and then have him square his shoulders to the LOS and don't cross the QB as he takes the back through his ride" as well as him squaring his shoulders at the QB.
Is the QB taking the ball to him? How can the RB square his shoulders to the LOS prior to receiving the ball?
Coach the back dropsteps towards the quarterback and then squares to the LOS and the quarterback brings ball over to him just as he would if he was coming across as running stretch. The running back on inside zone replaces the backside end playing the quarterback. Coach Campbell
