I was wondering if anyone out here runs the toss out of the gun? Our tailback did well last year on the toss and I don't want to go completely away from it. We are going to be a 4 wide gun team next year and the way I was thinking of running it was to crack with the slot and pull the tackle. If anyone has tried this I would appreciate any comments?

We run a two back gun along with the one back gun and motion the backside running back towards the play to block outside invert playside and then when QB receives the ball he pitches to his playside running back who follows his motion back. Coach CAmpbell
We ran the gun toss out of the bunch formation this season. It actually is a very safe and simple play to run once you time it up. We cracked with the inside WR and pulled both guards. We liked it as a changeup from toss under center because the DL gets upfield a little and it's harder for them to change directions and chase the play.
Coach, our gun version of the "Toss" is to drop the QB after gun-snap and have him throw to the TB on a Flare while the OL OSZ blocks and the perimeter people stalk or crack-combo. This action tends to slow the ILB pursuit and gets the Safeties to take a pass drop initially.
Run from the bunch....#1 and #2 receivers block down and seal....#3 arcs to support defender...out of gun, direct snap to F back....either lead w/ QB or have him flow away...you can pull a guard if you'd prefer as well. We ran this very effectively this past season...should have run it more. Installed a reverse off of it as well which was a killer. pdow
We had our back line up in the G/T gap and "slow go" the play. The QB must secure the snap and take a big step toward the back - tossing the ball underhand and slightly out in front.
