Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coaches, with the double option, do you find any advantages in optioning the EMLOS versus the primary run force defender? Seems like defenses are trained to have EMLOS take the QB, but if he gets blocked and the run force is optioned instead then the defense must rotate option assignments on the QB and pitch in this case... seems like most HS defenses wouldn't be able to adjust to this very well. Coaches, what are your experiences and preferences with who to option with the double option. Thanks,
A reason why some coaches don't like to load the EMLOS is because of the physical mismatch it may create when a RB tries to load a DE. Another problem that may arise due to the mismatch is the QB having to alter his path forcing the play to stretch, which also may effect the QB/TB pitch relationship. I would load the FS and pitch off the 9 tech or EMLOS. Try to run this against a team who shows a 7 tech or combination 5 and 9. Combo block the 7 or 5 tech with your Tackle and TE to PSLB. This will restrict pursuit by the defense so the play doesn't stretch.

Coach Mac is on with his discription of this play and is the reason you want to run it, best run to the 5 & 9 combination because of the two playside combos vs the 7 and 3 tech you get possible upfield penetration by 3 tech vs the single block. Good to pair the midline with load when wanting to head towards tight end only. Coach CAmpbell
Coach Campbell also showed us how to flex the TE and motion him to the 1-5 for a combo on the 5 to playside backer. By flexing the TE, we can motion him to the 1-5 if we want to run load. We also do this with the inside veer, and we get an extra blocker tracking PSLB to Free Safety.
coach Vint and Campbell, Do you ever run inside veer out of the stack I without motion to get the extra tracker. We go against 5 teams who run the 5-2 with the SS inverted going to field and strength of formation. I feel this could be a big play for us utlizing "option on me" with the SS always being wrong when it comes to his inverted alignment.

Veer out of the stack is a great play. We run this to the open side. We also run our fullback trap from the stack off of veer option. We also go unbalanced to the wide side, with our x receiver flipped to the tight end side, on the line. If teams adjust, we run veer to the open side. If they don't, we run load to the tight end vs. a 5-2.
