Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Could you explain the blocking scheme for 32 inside out of a double twins look? I have your videos and understand how the play works with a TE, but I would like some more insight on how this play works without a TE. I have been drawing this play up against a 31 front and I have trouble accouting for the inside backers in this. Especially playside, because we no longer have the TE to track the on side backer. Thanks for you help and hope all is well.
I will try to reply to this. It looks like to me after looking at the shotgun manual.
Playside- pt- will base the 6 or 7 tech
pg - will base the 3 tech
center &lg- will ace lion the 1 tech to pslb
bst - will release i/s to bs lb
problem- you will need to control the backside end by a qb read out of the gun or motion a receiver over and kick out the i/s jersey number of the end
this play should cut out the back door
another easy option I use to get in one back for this play is to use a two tight two flanker set using my fb, as the second te (small school, limited personnel grouping) This keeps his rule consistent, kick out the end, if he is a 7 tech pinching wash him down
That is just some of my ideas I have only run this one year. Coach C give me some feedback
Thanks for your imput on this question. What we are looking at is taking the near ear to the extreme in this play and leaving the playside linebacker free and sort of letting him take himself out of the play.
PST- will base the the 6 or 7 PSG- will base the 3 C- will ace-lion on the 1 to the will BSG- will work the ace-lion on the 1 to the will BST- will base the backside 5
This blocking should leave the playside linebacker to fill his A gap. What we are thinking is that if the LB fills A gap hard, the fullback should be able to cut and head out the B gap. If LB starts flying outside that should open up the the cutback run. So basically, our FB is reading the playside LB and running to the vacated zone. This all works on paper but it still requires our playside guard to make one darn good base block. Coach C, what do you thing about all of this?
In a 4 wide one back set I would run inside zone at the 1 tech. You get a base block on the tackle with the 5 tech. , PSG and C combo to the PSLB , BSG and BST block the 3 tech. and BSLB, the QB boots the backside 5 tech. I'm assuming a 4-2 look up front. Bootleg playaction works great here as you can have the inside wideout run a whip or quickout. I think it is better though to run inside zone out of the gun if you are a 1 back 4 WR team.
Also if you want to go to a 3wr 2 back set (or 1 H-back) here is something you can do with the inside zone: here you are running to the 3 tech.
PST blocks the DE PSG blocks the 3 tech. C and BSG combo the 1 tech. to the PSLB (Or the center can just release to the LB and the BSG can reach the 1 tech.) BST block the DE
Now the fullback, h-back , whatever goes to block the BSLB. The tail back starts playside then cuts back looking to hit between the tackles block and the combo of the BSG and center.
