Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coaches, we run the g-belly play a lot and are really mixed on how to block the belly option. Do you load it and have the fb j course and continue outside, do you have the fb dive into the line. Against a 7 tech do you down block with the tight end and have the guard pull around. If so who do you block, the force or pull tight for the scraping backer.
We ahve done all of these and I am not sure which I like the best. I want to make this a bigger part of our scheme and want to have my scheme tighter and then have the blocking change-ups.
What we did was had our FB read the block of the G, if he logs we widen to 2nd level, if he kicks we are inside to 2nd level. We always blocked LB(2nd level w/FB). FB took a flash fake from QB (after he reverse pivots). vs. 7 tech, we would downblock and have G scrape tight for first backer that showed. If your T and TE both get a good push, you shouldn't have to worry about penetration. Also, we would read crack the perimeter. 75-80% of the time the WR would take Safety.
