A few of the books I have read latley talk about the advantages of cross blocking at the point of attack. How many of you out there do this on a regular basis. I dont remember any team that we have ever played that has made a point to cross block at the point of attack.

We do this on occasion on off-tackle lead and counter plays vs 50 defenses. If the DT is head up or an inside shade on the tackle then it is usually on. Our TE will make the call if the cross block is on. Usually, the DT is taken by surprise with the cross block. The OT will then kick out the DE. Sometimes you get huge holes because of this. We've tried it with G and T also, but it's not as successful for us.
