Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Iwant to install the split back veer, but lack the complete understanding of it to run it with great percision. I want to learn more about how I could use my OL alignment to benefit me against certain defenses, (especially the 4-3). Also what do I need to focus on to recognize when I should make those adjustments.
I have watched teams that run the veer real well and they usually play with the OLs splits in order to take advantage of certain fronts. If there is any info that you may have that could help me please contact me. Any other info on the veer that may be helpfull I would appreciate for I am new at it. Thank you much.
There are a lot of coaches in Texas that know a lot about this offense. I believe the Head Football Coach at Graham, Texas still runs it and not far from there there is a Head Coach at Boyd, Texas that used to run it. Sorry I don't know their names but I'm sure you can find their names on the school websites.
Coach - we have run the veer from split backs and I -backs. I have a manual available on Coach Campbell's web site on installing the Split Back Veer in High School. As far as splits vs 4-3 we would keep out G and T at 2ft splits and flex our TE to about 5 ft. Vs 4-3 we ran alot of 2 TE's and a flanker. Plays vs 4-3 that are the best are inside veer with G and T combo the DT to MLB. TE blocks OLB and the DE is the dive read. As a change up we ran a G scheme Dive and a G Option. The TE's flex alignment forces the DE to widen and makes the QB's read on the inside veer very easy. Run the Trap once the defense is overplaying the Inside Veer. We did not run Outside veer vs an even front because of C gap DE's and the fact that inside Veer is so good vs 2/3 technique tackles with a 7/6/9 DE. We run from I formation now because of personell and we really like the off tackle Blast out of the I and Stack(Maryland) I.
Thanks Coachs I appreciate your help. When the split is between the tackle and gaurd instead of the tackle and TE, like I have seen teams do, I would assume they do that to open up the inside veer? This (The Veer) is all very fascinating to me and would appreciate any packets you could send me or recommend I attain. Thanks
