Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Iwant to install the split back veer, but lack the complete understanding of it to run it with great percision. I want to learn more about how I could use my OL alignment to benefit me against certain defenses, (especially the 4-3). Also what do I need to focus on to recognize when I should make those adjustments.
I have watched teams that run the veer real well and they usually play with the OLs splits in order to take advantage of certain fronts. If there is any info that you may have that could help me please contact me. Any other info on the veer that may be helpfull I would appreciate for I am new at it. Thank you much.

GC,
My team runs the option (all phases of the option game), and our splits are 2-2-3. However, we sometimes widen the splits if we are getting an inside read on a play such as a midline option or an inside veer. This widens out the option defender, and consequently he is slower to react to the fullback which allows us to give it to the fullback. In a perfect world of option football, the fullback gets the ball every time! Glad to see you are implementing the best high school offense! Continuing on the topic of O-Line play, we double team/combo at the point of attack and slide off to the backer. The key is to get a vertical push on the down defender, and let the backer come to you. Clearing the L.O.S. allows the QB to have a clear read on the option defender. We "Track Block" (or zone, whichever you prefer) from the combo on to the backside. Track Blocking involves the lineman taking a 45 degree first step upfiled to the playside, and staying on that 45 degree track upfiled, and allow NOBODY to cross your face. Anything more I can do to help, feel free to ask. I will try the best I can to answer. Clipper Coach.
