Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
WITH REGARD TO OOM, I UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS OF READING THE INVERTS AND STARTING FROM THE SPLIT SIDE. MY QUESTION IS, IF I HAVE TWO INVERTS , A 4i TECH, AND A 6 TECH. SHOULD I RUN MIDLINE OR LOAD? I KNOW COACH CAMPBELL ONLY WANTS TO RUN MID TO A 3 TECH, BUT IS THE LOAD A BETTER PLAY? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
With a 41, it is a b-gap player. I think midline would be fine because the blocking scheme would not really be effected and you are still reading the b-gap player. If I am getting a steady dose of this alignment, I would run outside veer of belly-g.
THANKS COACH. I FELT LIKE THE MID WOULD BE GOOD. I AM REALLY TRYING TO DETERMINE HOW TO TEACH MY QB WHAT TO TAKE IN THAT SITUATION. HOW DO YOU TEACH YOUR QB TO GET INTO THE BEST OPTION?
We teach midline to the b-gap player, inside veer to the uncovered guard, outside veer to the uncovered tackle. If they are all covered we throw three step or lead option. This can change depending on personnel and game planning but that is our general approach.
WE ARE JUST INSTALLING THE OPTION. WE HAVE HAD A POCKET TYPE PASSER FOR A FEW YEARS, BUT OUR QB NOW IS A RUNNER. HOWEVER HE IS NOT QUITE THE STUDENT OUR OTHER QB WAS, SO WE HAVE TO KEEP THINGS SIMPLE FOR HIM. I DON'T WANT HIM TO HAVE TOO MANY CHOICES AT THE LOS. YET, I DON'T WANT TO GET STUCK IN A BAD PLAY. OUR HC REALLY WANTS TO HAVE A DEFINED CHECK FOR EACH PLAY. I'M NOT SURE IF THAT WON'T BE MORE TO LEARN. ANY IDEAS?
