Hey are there any general tips for an guard having trouble 1) Reaching around a head up DT that slants and 2) just being able to drive a guy off the line of scrimmage (strength is not the big issue here)
Lu vs a 2 tech at the guard position you always pull the uncovered lineman with you that helps track the stack defender to LBer. The key is being able to keep you feet moving and if working in combo (Ace, Duece) that you both get hip to hip together. Coach CAmpbell
Couple of keys to getting a good drive: 1. Delivering a decisive blow to the defender 2. Chest over the knees and driving the heels into the ground. Let's talk more about this
Keeping your head in front of the man is always key, as well as delivering a good hit on the defender, also always always always keep your feet moving. If he is having trouble blocking the man slanting into the A gap just try to get him to get his head across the defender and wheel his butt around to the playside.
