Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I am coaching at a decent size high school with no athletes with any size at all. To complicate the problem, up untill this year when I got here, we had no weight program to speak of, so my lineman are undersized and weak. The weight program is comming along but I need drills to help reach these kids.We run a zone blocking scheme which I think caters to these guys but if anyone can give me any drills or ideas it would be greatly appreciated. e-mail- Isaacf@frederick.k12.va.us

Isaacsf,
Ultimatley, undersized lineman still have to perform the same blocks as bigger lineman, especially in the zone scheme. However, I understand your plight. We double team at the P.O.A., and Track block (zone) everthing on back. One drill that I came up with involves using the chutes (although if you don't have any chutes it can still work>
-Place a board in the middle of each chute. -Have you players align on either side of it. -Align defenders with shields on the other end of the chute, staggered as if DL and LB's. -When the whistle is blown, OL step the way they are told (right or left), and the defenders scrape a certain direction. -OL come out of the chutes and block the first person that crosses their face.
Thanks for the help, I will try this. We do something similar but not really using the zone idea.
