Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Coach Vogt or other coaches who might run the option game. Could you recommend a good workout routine or suggestions that may help develop initial quickness from under center.

Honor God - Love One Another - Hard Work - Excellence
Working with a center, and in addition to typical footwork quickness drills (i.e. ladder, cones, ropes, etc), simply put a watch on the drop (passing game) and to the mesh (option game) and work to reduce time (by tenths at the beginning, then hundreths)....but it is very important that technique is monitored...in an attempt to knock time off, they will typically try to cut corners somewhere...got to keep an eye on it (feet, hands, arms, etc). However, don't compromise obtaining a fundamentally sound mesh point which provides a solid read for speed...stress "be quick..don't rush". Would love to hear other recommendations.
Coach; One of the best ways to train for specific footwork is to develop what I call "pattern runs" for specific positions. I do these pattern runs at least twice a week during the summer running sessions. Do your pattern runs after ther normal sprint work for the day. Example for an option QB; mimick the option path for inside veer, ouside veer, play-action pass and bootleg's off play action. Do each run 6-8 times before going to the next one. Also be sure and do it to both sides of the center. Use a snapper if possible or at least use another QB to snap the ball up to the runner. If you use any 3-step drop passing game and/or sprint out game use those patterns as well. Use a ball for all drills. Remember, repetition is a key for success.
Yes I use Bungi's to help with speed development. They are good tools to use on overspeed days and days when you also are woking on accereration. I also use a variety of other tools that aid in you running program; "viper cords", speed ladders, cones, hurdles and stadium stairs. Not only do these tools all help, but most of all the offer your kids variety in their workouts!!
give your kids some variety in thier routines, it's also fun for them and the coaches.
I am concerned with gaining mass and keeping my quickness and speed. I was wondering If you could give me some brutal drills that will quickly enhance my speed and quickness. I weigh 200 pounds 6'2 and run my forty currently at 4.7 mostly have run a 4.69. Want to get down to a 4.5 flat forty time in about a year how can this be done?
I have used the jump soles that seem to help out alot with my speed but wondering if there is something I do not know how to gain this speed.
I also have done drills like....
quick feet drills with cones and squares...
squares are on wood floor and in and out several different ways to help cordination and quickness.... stuff like that.
Just another thought. I have coached football for 29 years at mostly college and high school levels. Let's not confuse speed ( movement away from the center/QB exchange) for efficiency. Whether your QB runs 4.5 or 4.7 is really irrelevant to the point "can he run the offense?"
I really get tired of coaches saying this player can't play because he isn't fast enough (40 time) or quick enough. Especially at QB. We can always improve our player's speed and quickness. The REAL question is this; CAN HE PLAY, AND WILL HE LEAD MY TEAM!!!. AMEN.
Well here is some food for thought; what really matters is........ technique, or horsepower that makes an athlete run fast?? Let me put it to you this way, you must improve your strength in order to improve your speed and quickness. You must improve your power output to increase you short distance (less than 40 yds.) speed. Running drills and all the work you have shared is essential BUT do not neglect the strength aspect. You must get stronger to run faster!!
Keep up your drills and make sure you are squatting and doing some sort of power training (i.e. cleans, jerks, pulls and snatches). Also make sure you are working on your core area (abs, obliques and lower back).
I am trying to gain mass right now because I have trouble gaining wieght, always have...
started eating like 4 eggs a day and will try to get in 12 each day 6 with yolk and 6 without... followed by drinking protien shakes and eating every two hours a full meal...
I was just worried that this would slow me down but I have noticed with lifting that the explosion and power is there....
You can gain weight and increase speed at the same time, especially if you are young (16-21 yrs old). Also, many pro players do the same thing, gain weight and increase speed at the same time. In fact if your program is not advocating both then you had better check with someone sles. Iwould never put an athlete on a weight gain program without addressing speed.
My youngest son, who just graduated from high school in May is a great example. He weighted 130 lbs as a soph. in HS. He is now ready to go play in college football and weighs 185 lbs. and cleans 280, squats 400 and has improved his 40 time greatly. He also has a 34 inch vertical. He works hard in the weight room and also follows my sprinting and agility program.
You must train hard and smart. There is a science to what we do!!!
Oh well maybe you could share some of this science with me on this board cause I am having a little trouble finding it in your guy's video....
I mean there is a lot of content but towards the end of the video it is just guy's doing the drills and I do not understand how to do them or why they work... I guess i need some clarification and explanations....
Ummm maybe this will help too...
We do agility drills.... with boxes and cones and working on quickness coordination... jumping and such...
Waiting; My son is 5'10 so he has become pretty "compact" He has worked really hard and trains well. By the way athletes must get proper rest and nutrition for all this to work too, What video are you talking about??
There is a lot of stuff out there, but you need to know 2 things.
1. What to do
2. How and when to do it
It all mattersa great deal. When Michael Johnson trained to win the Olympics, he had a plan!! By the way he didn't win it all until he was like 27 yrs old. You cannot just go do plyometrics, agilities and sprint drills without knowing what order to do them in and how to do them properly.
I have completed a video tht will be produced soon which will help greatly.
The video starts off great explaining everything well, but then towards the end of the video the drills and everything are just displayed too quickly without any way of knowing how many how long and how much to do...
I have a personal trainer and he is working with me to gain weight as of now and do agility... Taking Nitro tech and cell tech... starting this week.
Box drills, cone drills, coordination drills, plyometric, a mix in a certain order he knows it...
I am always intersted though in other drills...
Now this plyometric video you have coming out how soon is soon? Will it have things such as michael johnson would train with... Where did you get those resources for that video?
