:confused; Coach I know this is coiming off the subject but I need to know how to be a good recvier and I also need your help in trying to understand football again because I have'nt played football for over 4 maybe five years and that was for Victorville All American. I really want to play football for my school this year coming up. I don't want to let them down by not knowing what to do. So, if you can please tell me and show me what football talk is and the positons are so, I can get a clue. I greatly thankful!!!!!
There are many ways to make a contribution at receiver. First you must be able to catch the ball, especially when you are running routes on air (no defenders). When defenders become part of the equation, you must has such a great desire to catch the football, that making the catch no matter what is the most important thing you can do. Regardless of where the ball is thrown, or where the defenders are. Coming back out for football is fantanstic. You will make an impression by following the coaches instruction to the "T", diving and giving an effort on every ball thrown your direction, and asking questions after practice. I would suggest that you find out who the quarterbacks are, and start running patterns with them. Make them comfortable in throwing you the ball.
All that being said, the most important contribution that you must make is blocking. The receivers are the most important component to an explosive running game. They spring 3 yards runs for 20 and 30 yards. Learn to block - "stalk", "cracks", "crossfield", whatever your team calls them. If you are a great blocker, you will play. I guarantee that you will play, and make a significant contribution to your teams success.
