I like to give each pass play a name.

If you want to call the protection and drop with a number, a pass play would be "63 Go". You can create images, which (for me) seems easier to understand for all players.

We once tried to use digits for passroutes and words for the protection like "2-2-5 slide" (X goes 2-route, Y goes 2-route, Z goes 5-route), but the main problem was, that our QB had to take more time to think about...
