favorite blitzes and stunts from the 4-4

I am also very interested in Coach C's or any experienced coaches favorite blitzes and stunts from the 4-4.
I have been on the offensive side of the ball for many years and was just asked to be our defensive coordinator with the 4-4 as our attacking defense. I would appreciate any advice as to where to start. I receieved Coach C's "how to install the multiple 40" and am studying that extensively. Thanks for your help.

We see a lot of split defenses and what you describe is the #1 way, I think, teams throw in a changeup to stop our midline. To offset it, we start running inside veer. If the o-line can stymie the initial charge and prevent a bunch of penetration, the veer can put a dent in this defensive approach. Another good counter to it is to base block the guard on the stunting DT, (usually he will be going A-gap anyway to prevent the guard from veer releasing on the midline or trap, and the LB will go B gap)send a slot or wing up to playside LB to iso him, make a token midline fake and have the QB pull the ball and follow the blocking slot or wing. A 3rd option we have is to run midline trap with the playside guard influencing. The influence will not affect a DT who is hard crashing the A gap, but it will allow the pulling guard to get to him, since the playside guard will not be getting jammed up in A gap with the stunt.

I don't know if this is the proper way to attack it, but this is usually what we go to first to try to get them out of it. A quick dump pass to the TE off midline action is good against an X stunt also when the LB's are plugging hard.
