Along with showing the numbers that has been discussed earlier we also teach showing the shoulders. On our initial step we teach our linemen to step, roll the opposite knee, and show the defender his shoulders. This is stressed to keep low and in position to be able to maintain leverage on the defender. Once contact is made, the lineman finishes the block by showing the defender his numbers. So: "Show your shoulders - finish by showing your numbers" is a statement that we are constantly stressing with our linemen.
