since going to our zone stretch scheme (zone is inside zone, and stretch is outside zone) i have watched about a gazillion hours of tape from different teams that run this scheme or similar ones to it, and i have noticed some techniques or defensive schemes that dcs come up with to try and stop it
a. submariners
b. deep off ball submariners
c. deep off ball 2 gappers hat readers
d. 2's and 6's-harder to combo when they are slanting all over the place
e. linebackers REAL tight, almost in the gap
f.stunts-slanting dts one way or the other, opposite gap
g. downright tackling of the ol to keep off lbrs
these are just some of the ones i can think of off the top of my head, i know how we would deal with them techniquewise, our rules take care of a 99% of it (which helps a lot, the rules being run the stretch to the 7 and then to the one for the most double teams, and for zone to run it to the one or away from the shade to get the most double teams, our qb has to just look down and see where they are at and then we run it the other way, also makes for easy audibles, we just flip the play called at the line if it is better to run it the other way) , but the techniques would change a little depending on what they are doing,, for you guys that run zone strecth out of oneback most of the time, how often do you see this kinda stuff, and how often is it different than the stuff they ran on the trade tapes? what are your answers to some of the technique problems these schemes present? how would you have your ol attack these different schemes?:disgust;
