Coach H to the scheme mentioned we are probably talking the 4-3 scheme. When coming around fast which is usually a Toss or Pitch play you are looking for the playside ear and this rule is dictated by the term Toss in the huddle. Coach CAmpbell
So, would the TE try to get the outside or playside ear of the 9 tech, OT would get the playside or inside ear of the 9 tech, OG would try and get the outside or playside ear of the 3 tech, center would try and get the playside or inside ear of the 3 tech, OG would try and get the outside or playside ear of the 1 tech, OT would try and get the inside or playside ear of the 1 tech, QB hands off to Ace back and then runs a boot on the backside 5 tech?

Coach thats exactly how you would block the scheme. What helps you here is that the Running BAck must understand that when running a fast rotating scheme (i.e. Toss or Stretch) that he will probably cut his path backside of the push and his indicator is the 9 tech. Coach Campbell
Coach Campbell, vs. that front with cover 3, would it not be better to run the toss with fast zone away from the TE? just looking at it on paper and it seems better away from SS. Your thoughts? Thanks.

Coach whether you run the toss or stretch openside or tightside if reaching a 9 technique strong or a 5 technique weak the play is going to stretch, when running these types of plays you must considere your running back not being able to out run the contain defender this is where the cutbacks come from on these kinds of plays. If you where running toss to a 7 tech. then the balls headed outside because you can pin the EMLOS. Coach CAmpbell

Coach if the Tailback gets the ball let him help set the movement of the LBers and if the play is designed to first start outside then read the stretch of the EMLOS. Let the Tailback find first daylight and go, if its a fullback and aligned closer to the LOS then have him cut off the back heels of the offensive line. Coach CAmpbell
