The way I've heard of DIP (Double In Post) is out a a pro split back set:
X has a post
Y has a 8-10 yard dig and find the hole
Z has a 18 yard in route
backs check release to flats
I think this is against middle of the field closed
or
X has a 15 yard in
Y has a 6 yard cross sit over opposite tackle
Z has the post
backs check release
I think this is against a 2shell

Isn't the second patter you described the "National pattern" Post/dig/drag?

Do you run the double in? Are reading the linebackers to see if the jump on the intermidiate in so the QB can hit the deeper in on the outside?
