When I zone step I teach an L-Step and have found the shoots a great place to perfect the technique by splitting the bar support backside of the direction you would like your linemen to step as they prepare to duck walk thru the shoots. Thoughts and ideas of what others are teaching. Coach CAmpbell

Coach Vint I spend 5 minutes a workout on the shoots> I start my individual period with stance and starts which I call stomping the arch. I then proceed to the shoots and work my slow zone, l-step and drop step footwork giving each offensive linemen two reps on each and then I move on to the sled work. Coach CAmpbell P.S. Great job getting the barrells.

Coaches a good drill for your offensive linemen is to what I call stomping the arch. When coming out of a stance for 5 yards have your offensive linemen stomp the inside of their arches for 5 yards and then release for a 5 yard finish. Stomping the arch teaches a run push working on the inside of their feet with heels in and toes turned out. Coach CAmpbell

When teaching on the shoots and you use a zone blocking scheme have your offensive linemen split the bars to simulate alignment and then use footwork that accomadates the play called. Coach CAmpbell
The barrells are great for drilling the O-lineman. I used the tape you gave me two years ago and work those drills. Also great for setting the fronts when we run plays on air.

A good drill for use on the shoots is stomp the arches. This technique or drill requires your linemen to come out of their stances focusing all their energy on the inside of their arches, this is where the push is generated. Coach CAmpbell
Our O-Line Coach is using the chute and the guantlet to drill our trap blocks. O Lineman starts in the chute. The man being trapped is in front of the guantlet, holding a shield. The trapper takes his path through the chute and drives the defender through the gauntlet. Works great to teach the trapper to get movement on the defender.
