Inside Zone
The steps for your running back on the inside zone:
We open crossover and plant at the stretch landmark ....1 yd outside of the TE. Then he squares and runs 2 steps past the handoff on the tract of the read we try to get this so the rb is making his cut in the los not deep in the backfield. His track will be the 1st true lineman, RB is responsible for moving the lber.
We read the playside Lber, if he scrapes we look to Cut back, if he gets caught inside we stay on track. In schemes we will change to a lineman read....for example against a great Nose, we will run to him, let the C lock up, fold the backside and run off the C's block.

> What is the footwork on the inside zone for the lineman both covered and uncovered? What is the difference in the bucket step and the drop step you talked about in the stretch/outside zone?
We started trying to double up linemen and knock them off the ball and then chip late to the lber but found it was much clearer for the back to read if we one handed the downlinemen and worked quicker to the Lber.. if you double up on a good 1 tech for example you don't get a lot of movement if he is pretty good, we would rather get one hand on him to help my buddy<or shoulder) and then work to lber level. Doubling him up tends to slow the movement down , he can't run and react.
On the zone we target outside hip for the covered man, so a wide tech may require a slight drop step obviously a tighter aligned defender will even allow us to step at a 45 at them.
Uncovered is going to block inside hip track...same rule except he is going to aim for a one hand block and eye the lber, he is going to lock onto the lineman if the linebacker scrapes behind the lineman, and he will yell go, go, go and bump the covered lineman into the lber.
