This is my 1st year running the inside zone. I've told my TB to aim at the outside leg of the guard and read the LB to his side on staying on his path or cutback. This is against a 5-2 by the way. It seams like his cutback hole is opening on the other side of the NG. I've always taught him to cutback off of his guards heels but the lane to cut is on the other side of the nose. Do you have any suggestions on when to start cutting back and should I change his aiming point and have him cut off of the centers block instead of the LB'er?

Stick when running the inside zone vs the 50 and you do get the cutback yes it will come off the backside of the center or Nose. If you are running the inside zone with the fullback he will cut off the back heels of his linemen. If its the Tailback he will cut according to his playside LBer which the cut could come at anytime. So should he be patient when he gets the ball going into the line at about 1/4 speed until he reads daylight or is it full speed ahead and cut on the fly? We run it from the 1 back and usually the gun.

If running the inside from the gun or from under center have the running back dropstep with playside foot like you said but have him receive the ball with his shoulders square to the LOS. Coach CAmpbell

Coach would not be the draw, if the Qb steps forward to give the ball it means that the RB is probably running at an angle to receive it so it tends to stretch the play and defenders. Coach CAmpbell
Coach Campbell, on inside zone play RB should dropstep crossover like on option then attack LOS square? Do i have this correct or does he just drop step and then attack LOS?

Coach F have him square his shoulders off his dropstep. The offensive line would take their push vertically up the field to the second level backers. If the back gets the ball coming across the formation then you would want your offensive line to either dropstep to the far number of the defender or take the push from a 45 degree step stretching the play.
