Coaches, We face a lot of teams who employ a straight 50 defensive scheme. My Guards have a question of who they should block vs a 0 tech. head up on the center) and a 4 tech. (head up on the tackle), and there is a 7 tech. (outside shade of TE). Should they help the Center or the Tackle? Thanks guys.

Coach you can turn the guard out on the 4 tech and then the tackle out on the 7 with the TE have the backside guard and center combo the nose to backside LBer. The key here will be the running back reading and cutting backside off the nose if he stretches playside. This actually vs this scheme turns into a frontside zone scheme with a cutback. Coach we block the iso usually by having our playside guard ACe combo w/ the center and chip to B/S backer, however, we have been known to have him deuce with the tackle if the tackle was pinching hard or was a bigger problem than the nose. Either way you want to teach your kids to "part the sea"
Coach, we like playside combo to backside backer also because the "C" typically needs the help, and with the Okie backers reading the Gaurds, they zone push might not be enough to open the hole. The TE in your outside shade (we call a 9) would rip through and seal the SS if he is in an invert position. However, it certainly works with the zone concept.
