Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are coming off a game in which we ran alot of one-back....threw the ball successfully against an even front running 1 techs and 4's with wide LB'ers. We were getting outside on zone toss and counter was also big. We were trying to run load option, but our FB was doing a lousy job blocking and we got little. However, we gained over 300 yds and scored 21 points and had two other deep penetrations with one ending in a fumble and the other in a missed field goal. This week, we face a team that for the last two weeks has been playing a base 52 front with some weak eagle...mostly 4 techniques and a 6 or a 9 on the TE. NOt sure how they will play our one-back as their first opponent ran some one-back, but defensively they played more even and got scorched and that is the only one-back team they have faced so far. I'm fairly certain how they will align vs. a 2 back scheme, but not too sure how they will defend one-back. My question is I think that our two back running game looks good against this 5-2 front, particularly outside veer, midline, iso, belly G and counter. Would it be unwise of me to emphasize a majority of two-back, tight end schemes into this week's game plan after coming off a week of successful one-back production? Appreciate your input. pdow.

Coach good job, I think vs the 50 a double tight end looks good especially for the load option and the veer option running game. The ISO vs the 50 is always good to. It sounds as if you got it going, but a double tight end to this works, also a slotted tight end. I have found when facing the 5-2 schemes that spread them out with formations and make their defensive ends have to get into pass coverages. Look forward to hearing back from you. Coach CAmpbell
Sprint out protection vs. 50 front....full reach the outside 5 tech with the tackle and have the PG handle the 4? I'm assuming it will be unlikely for us to get outside...will probably have to set up inside, right? F will track playside LB'er to backside...center on the nose and backside G and T handle the backside 4 and 5? I know this should have been in another forum but it just hit me as I was reading your previous response. thanks..pdow

Yes coach but the full reach. Continue to have QB read the playside tackle for his reach a real chance for the tackle to reach the five, the sprint out protection resembles the load, toss, and ISO thus making the potential reach better, if not QB pulls up. Coach CAmpbell
