I realize this may be alot to ask of coaches given the time of year, but I'm interested in knowing what your practice schedule is during the season when you play your varsity games on friday evenings. The more detail the better! If you prefer to email it to me, that would be great also. also, our frosh play on friday and jv on monday. Matt
Matt if you have a fax number I will be glad to give you our weekly schedule built around Varsity on friday night and freshman and JV's on thursday. Coach Campbell
Gents, greetings from the Great White North. I'd also be very interested in eharing about some of your practice organization hints. If any of you could drop me a line at kevin.machin@rogers.com, that'd be great.!

If possible, I would like to see the practice plans. fax # 712-343-6915 to Cory Faust. thanks for your time, and I understand if this is not possible. I know you are probably busy
Coach can you please send me a copy of that practice schedule? SL_mouton@yahoo.com And any other information related to practice organization, coaches responsibility and the game day strategy.
How are you doing?I just found the site and this is a great tool for coaches. I was reading on the practice orgnaization site and you faxed a inseason practice schedule to some coaches. I am in search of a better way to get more out of my practices( game situations you practice, times , conditioning and how do you practice special teams within the game week. Could you e-mail me or fax me the schedule and any other information that could help me. Thanks coachnelson@yahoo.com
I tried to call you at home around 6:30 your time, but no one was at home. Here is the fax number at school 540-459-5992 if that one doesn't go through then try 540-459-8068 Put to the att: Coach Nelson
We use a fairly generic practice schedule. We try not to fluctuate, but sometimes do. We make sure we cover special teams daily, and we make sure we lift daily. As coaches, we utilize time before school, during conference/prep periods, lunch, and weekends to handle all administrative/equipment/misc tasks. This allows us to spend all designated football time with the team. Sometimes we find ourselves scheduling film and chalk talks during lunches.
It is time consuming, but you only get out of it what you put into it!
You can email me and I'll send you a copy of our in-season schedule.
Hello! I just discovered this site... and it looks like it contains a wealth of information!!
I am interested in finding out if/how staffs integrate their JV and Varsity staffs throughout the practice week. I have a 4-man varsity staff and three coaches on the JV, not including volunteers. Is it possible to share responsibilities during the week (and on game day) so that we can maximize the knowledge and background of the coaches...while at the same time, giving players at both levels the best possible coaching??
Coach Campbell: I would also appreciate any materials you have relative to practice organization & day by day breakdown (as referenced to at the beginning of this thread)!
Coach This is an example of how we practice in season with a combined Varsity and JV staff. We have 3 defensive coaches and 3 offensive coaches plus a head varsity coach and head jv coach. The offensive and defensive coaches coach both Varsity and JV players and the schedule below reflects a Varsity schedule with JVs. doing just the opposite. The Two head coaches coach both sides of the ball with their respective teams. IN SEASON TUESDAY PRACTICE TEMPLATE
VARSITY TIME Offense 3:30Pre-Practice Walk Through 3:40Warmup Form Running and JJs 3:50Individual--Position basics 4:05Group Half Line Triples, Options, 100 Pass 4:20 Team Offense Over package, Goal Line, Perfection Team 4:30Kickoff Return 4:40Water 4:50Break 4:55 Kickoff DEFENSE 5:05Individual Drills Individual Work 5:15Group Inside Run vs. Base Defense with safeties/Corners work on M/M 5:25Group Pass Defense7 on 7, Line works on Pass Rush 5:35Team Pursuit Drill, Blitz, Long Yardage, GL 5:50 ConditioningRunning
Our JVS are doing the exact opposite within the same time frames i.e. While Varsity offense is in progress the JV team is practicing the defensive part of the schedule and then after the break we switch it. We have 3 Offensive coaches and 3 defensive coaches plus myself the head varsity coach who coaches both sides of the ball and the Head JV coach who coaches both sides of the ball.
We have season long assignments and game specific assignments. Everyone is responsible for something on gamedays. We also have a map of where things go on our sidelines. If you look at the map, it is sectioned for QB area, kicking area, trainers area, etc... This is obviously where their specific gear/equipment/suplies go.
Just email me and I'll send you a copy of our coaches responsibility list and our field layout.
We play JV/Varsity double headers at the same site. At home games, all the coaches coach the JV game for the first half and then three of the coaches and myself go in with the Varsity before the game. On road games, because the Varsity travels later, it is separated. The Varsity coaches give a rotation personnel list to the JV coaches so they know who and when to substitute. Everyone works at the Varsity game.
Coach, Can I get a copy of your inseason practice schedule. My name is Coach John Taglione and my fax is 518-514-2117 or 518- 514-2119 Thank you Coach Taglione
Coach Campbell, I am also interested in your in season practice schedule. Any others have any more information on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone have a detailed in season practice plan for teams that run a lot of 2 way players?
Coach Campbell & all coaches. I coach at a small school in England and our biggest roadblock is the amount of practice time we are alloted by the school. We play our Varsity games on Saturday but traveling sometimes has us leaving on a bus on Friday morning. We Practice daily from 3:30- 5:15 and there never seems to be enough time to really work. I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to better plan a practice schedule to cover system, conditioning, drills, and so on without cramming everything together so fast. Any help would be great. thanks. CoachMac.
