Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I have seen the Jet Sweep blocked two ways: 1. Full zone with the PST & PSG almost diving to cut the defenders (Hardin Simmons Univ.) 2. PST hook the D.E. and the PSG pull and block force
This is how we are blocking the jet sweep. Now keep in mind I have been an I formation man my whole coaching life so we are green at this. If anyone has any suggestions then feel free to share them.
Backside OL - punch the inside shoulder of the DL that is "on" them; get up to the second level and hook the first bad guy that crosses your face. If no one crosses your face on the second level then get to the third level and block for the cut back. We include the center as being backside. We tell our OL that playside blocking will get us five yards and backside blocking will get us a touch down.
Playside Guard pull and block the first bad guy outside the DE that shows up. We give the Guard the preference of kicking this guy or hooking him. The jet has to make his cut off of this block.
Playside Tackle will hook the DE.
Our Playside Slot will crack down on the olb this will bring the defender on him closer to LOS so we can either kick or hook him.
It worked decently for us this spring, but we still have a great many kinks to work out. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
We use the same rules on the perimeter as we do when we run bubble screen: From outside/in. #1 blocks 1, #2 blocks #2. Our OL reach on the front side and scoop on the back. We run the jet from alot of different looks. Generally we will line up in a spread look, and check the jet sweep to a 3 tech. side. We do this because in a 4-4 look we figure we can block the OLB with our other wing. Our goal is for the ILB to have to make the play. We analyze it, I am guessing, like an option team would. All I care about is who is making the tackle.
PSE: Fake jet at hime and run a veer look at him. QB reverses all the way. FB delays and than takes inside veer path.
PSOLB: Fake jet at him and throw a stick route (flood) behind him. #1 runs a fade. #2 runs a stalk and sit. #3 after taking the jet fake will run a flat route. QB reads the OLB.
That is good stuff. I would be interested in discussing your jet sweep package further. I would like to trade materials or simply purcahse some of yours. Please email me at eknott3@yahoo.com, if you are interested.
Since I seem to be the expert on the Jet Series Offense in this forum (I'm the only one who consistently talks about it) here is how we block our Jet Sweep.
To TE side PHB- Down PTE- Down PT- Trap 1st DL past PHB's block PG- Pull and wall C, BG, BT, BSE- Cutoff-- get to safety BHB- Speed motion, take ball at playside A gap, run to field. QB- Hand ball off in playside A gap, fake trap, carry out waggle fake FB- fake trap, get to safety
To open-ended side PSE- Stalk PHB- 2nd man outside B gap PT- 1st man outside B gap ALL OTHERS REMAIN THE SAME!!!
Coach, I hope this helps. If you are interested in obtaining my Jet pamphlet, Email me at LCella1@aol.com.
