It is called pulling the uncovered lineman. If the center in the counter scheme is uncovered good idea to pull him playside especially if on the backside you have a 3 technique and you don't want the center blocking all the way back on him. Coach CAmpbell
Coach Campbell, What we have done lately is make calls for the who will be pulling. Texas or Tenn. will telll the tackle to pull, and Georgia will tell the guard to pull. We also make calls to let them know who they will be trapping. Red is the DT, and White is the De against a 4 man front, against a 5 man front red = nose, white= dt, blue = de. It has worked for us in the past. It really makes the rb pay attention to what is going on. What do you think?
We utilize our uncovered rule which states that we are going to pull Backside and Uncovered. This means that we will always pull the BSG and then who is uncovered. If facing a true split-4 defense with 3's on both guards then we will pull the BSG, C, and PSG. Pretty simple to teach. Buddy
