3 undercenter =1 in the gun
5 undercenter =3 in the gun
7 undercenter = 5 in the gun

sprintout would be 3 in the gun if the routes are at 5 step passing depth.
if they are 7 steps in sprintout undercenter I would go five.
it all depends on the route depth.

the above placements are when the qb is 5yd deep inthe gun.

Personally, I stay away from any form of a 7 step drop. Its just too much ground to proctect, especially for the tackles. We teach our QB to be at 8yds on a 5 step drop (gun+3). Line proctects a "box" from 7-9 yds from LOS.

We teach qb to subtract 2 from drop in the gun-our QB lines up at 4 yds:
3=gun+gather step
5=gun+3 step

Hos, not quite sure I follow you (sprint proctection???), but on in our 5 step game, whether from under C or gun, we want our QB at 8yds. We think that this is deep enough to allow our T's to control an inside rush or ride the outside rush deep. If we're in BOB or some form of slide/zone protection and the rush E attacks C gap, then T's know 7yds is the deepest he can go, if the RE lines up D gap or even wider, T will work to 9yds or deeper. It is all based on angles and having mental picture of the are to protect.
