Coach I teach our QB's to step at a 45 degree angle with there back foot to a parallel position with the playside foot this will put the QB in a quick pitch relationship with the Tailback. Both lead and load option footwork is the same. The third step by the QB should be downhill. Coach CAmpbell

The footwork Coach Campbell described above is the best way to run spead, lead, and load. Coach Campbell, you're a good man!
