WE RAN THE WISHBONE WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL, OUR HEAD COACH, COACHED UNDER FISHER DEBERRY SO WE WHERE VERY EFFECTIVE. IT WAS NOT GREAT FOR ME BECAUSE I WAS A SPLIT-END AND WE ONLY PASSED ABOUT FOUR TIMES A GAME. THE POWER GAME IS EXCELLENT OUT OF THE WISHBONE AS WELL AS THE VEER AND OUTSIDE VEER. WE BEAT ALOT OF GOOD TEAMS WITH OUR OUTSIDE VEER GAME. HERE IN NORTH CAROLINA NOBODY RUNS THE WISHBONE MUCH ANYMORE. BUT SOMEBODY WILL BRING IT BACK AND HURT SOME TEAMS WITH THE OPTION GAME. THE WISHBONE IS NOT THE BEST PASSING FORMATION, I WOULD PAIR IT WITH SOME FLEXBONE SETS LIKE AIR FORCE RUNS. RICE STILL RUNS SOME WISHBONE WITH THE FLEXBONE AND SPREAD SETS.

We run the wishbobne. We can run all options out of it: midline, triple, veer (triple, but a hole wider), and speed. We also run a blast play (HB lead w/ FB going opposite of play), belly (give, lead, keep, follow), double blast (double Iso), Load and Load option, crossbuck(trap with BSHB getting the ball), we also run counter options. As far as passing goes, we run a play-action, 3-step, and sprint out passing game. If you run the option, you usually have a mobile QB. Use that to your advantage. We usually only run 2 reciever routes because 1.) In high school, most QB's are not goign to make 4 reads; it also allows for mroe blockers. 2.) If there is no reciever open, have your mobile QB take-off downfield. The bone is an excellent formation!
