Coach with BOB protection with no back means the defense has at least 6 they came bring against your 5 thus the QB will be throwing hot if all six come. The QB has the hot for example to his right and any uncovered lineman would be in possible double read backside. Coach CAmpbell

This is known as Stay protection with the running back on a read out to the backside, if an outside invert off the openside where to come he could take him, if not then proceed out into a route, this is known as a read out or check release. Coach CAmpbell
Coach in BOB portection with the RB and 5 OL's, how do you determine which side the RB goes? Do you call it, or do the players have to once they ID the defense?

Coach the running back knows by the right and or left call made in the huddle. The back follows the call and the uncovered lineman has double read backside. I use right and left call to set our formations, thus the Fullback or single back will follow that call to set his assignment. Coach Campbell
We typically make our directional call at the LOS. For instance, if we are facing a 3 and a 1 tech, I might want to match our center on the 1 tech thus making the direction call opposite the 1. The guard vs. the 1 would be responsible for the dual read (one arm the 1 for the Center, check ILB to Invert)....the F would then dual read the opposite side. Callside G on the 3, callside T on the 5. This is gameplan stuff, so I prepare the QB to make the protection call based on plan at the LOS....what sort of problems might you see with this?

I see no problem if it works for you. By alerting tight and left call in the huddle I feel it eliminates some possible confusion and allows your backside tackle to start looking for the tuff and possible soft call. I'm never concerned about the 1 or 3 tech. because the protection scheme holds up. But what you are doing is fine because I no numerous programs that do the same. Good luck to you tonite and if you feel you have any kids that need to be considered on our all american team please post them. Good luck tonite - Coach CAmpbell

Coach stay protection is an alert for the tight end to stay in and block with the running back going opposite the tight end, this is your maximum protection with stay protection. Coach CAmpbell
