Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Can anyone tell me their rules for blocking Inside Trap out of Double Slot? I want to run a Trap off of a Veer look, with the QB giving a mesh look to the FB but it would be a straight give, BS Guard Trapping the 3 or 4 techniqueB and BS Slot carrying out their option fake. I want to "soften up" the Dive key so our FB can run, not to mention the Trap has been successful against us in past years...I just need some simple rules to get it done. We will see 50, 50 Stack, 4-4, 6-2, Dbl Eagle and DBl Eagle stack...
I agree 100% with Coach Cella's rules. The only adjustment we've made (I only mention it because you noted that you will see a double eagle front) is that we changed the center's progression to "1st DL away", then "On". This way if we see an eagle or double eagle front with a backside 2 or 3 technique, even though the Center has a NG On him, he will cover for the pulling guard by blocking that backside 2/3 tech. Since the PSG's 1st responsibility is Gap, he will pick up the NG by himself, and we'll trap the PS 2/3 tech. I know other teams will have the BST scoop the BS 2/3 tech to ensure a double team on the NG, but I worry about the BSLB being unblocked in this scheme. Hope this makes sense.
vs. Eagle... PG down blocks on nose... Center down blocks on backside DT. That is the only major adjustment I have encountered in 15 years of running it to the open-ended side.
