I am going for my first coaching interview on Wednesday. It is for the O-line and D-line position. I talked with the head coach today and he sounded very enthusiastic about me coming over. They are conducting spring drills at teh moment, so I am going over early to watch practice. They run a Double Slot Triple Option on offense and a 50 defense. I know nothing about the triple option and played in a 50 defense in high school. What type of questions should I expect? Since I have only one year of experience at the jr. high level, I am going to sell my work ethic, determination, and persistence to the head coach. Any head coaches and assistants have any pointers for me? Need your help.
This is my first time on this website and I have been very impressed with it. I have a question for you or any experienced coach. I have been coaching at a high school for the past 2 years. It's a great situation and it's a place that loves football. It's been a consistent winner for the past 20 years. Everything about my coaching situation is perfect, the only thing I have difficuilty with is my teaching situation which is elementary pe. I want to be a coordinator in the next couple of years and I have the ambition to become a strength and conditioning coach. Is it best for me stay with a program that is very success with great coaches and keep with teaching elementary pe or go to another situation that is not as success but has the teaching situation that I want which is strength and conditioning. Any information that you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Stay with the successful program and win some championships then go to struggling programs and learn how to build. I did this and I actually learned more about coaching from the struggling programs than from the successful ones. It's hard to figure out how to make make adjustments when you are used to having the jimmies and joes and then get involved with a program that doesn't. Eventually, you'll probably inherit a program that doesn't have the studs already in place so do as much to get prepare yourself for that day.
