Pancake, We modify some of the training activities for our lineman, but for the most part, they go through the same program as the rest of the team. We are an option team, and thus, quickness off the ball is essential. A few of the things that we do in our off-season training on top of weights are as follows:
EVERYTHING by scouts at higher level of play is based on footspeed, quickness, and agility when it comes to grading linemen. I have heard almost all of the coaches mention the dots, which of course are excellent, but I haven't heard anyone mention the jump rope. I have been a firm believer in the jump rope to build foot speed since Ike was a corporal and Mobey Dick was a minnow! (If you will get them started on a basic routine and intensify as training goes along, you will reap excellent benefits)
