Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
As a 46 coach always looking to change things up to keep offenses honest. I'm thinking of running some cover 3. What do you guys do when you see trips. Here in So-Cal everyone throws the ball. Thanks for the help.
We are an 8-man front. When we see trips and stay in our 8-man front, we will play 1/4, 1/4 to the trips side and man on the backside. The strong-side OLB is the curl/flat player.
3 verts out of trips is the same as 4 verts out of doubles. 2 db's will have to play 3 wr's deep. undercoverage can help by not allowing the wr's to simply sprint down the field. they (undercoverage) also want to keep the qb from throwing a frozen rope into a receiver from 12-20 yards deep. they must get their depth too. after about 20 yards, the f/s and cb have to be able to cover some ground when the ball is in the air. if that's not a good option, blitz'em, outnumber'em and get the ball out of the qb's hands in a hurry!
"don't think you are, know you are."
"stop trying to hit me & hit me."
bigtimer, Do you have Rex Ryan's book on the 46? He uses a "loaded" zone concept against trips and quads. Basically the SC plays deep half, SS plays head up on #2 and drops to the "deep flat", Sam is on the TE or #3 and drops to the "shallow flat", Mike drops to strong curl, and Will drops to hook. Pattern read from there. The WC and FS double cover #1 weak. There are a number of ways to run the double coverage, e.g., at the snap the safety rotates up to take away the slant from the PSR with the corner in outside leverage while the CB bails to deep help, etc. Lots of fun ways to mess with the QB. The secondary section of that book is gold.
