I might take a job at my alma matter. They hired my coach back who is the legend there and I have an offer to join. I have been running the spread with a lot of AIR RAID concepts and he is an old school I guy. I have been successful in the past with it also. He is looking for a few pass plays to through in and I was curious if anybody has ever tried the AIR RAID concepts from the I. We have 3 step and play action but I am open to any suggestions on them also.
I would think it would be rather hard to do from I because of the positioning of the backs.
take mesh route for example, the backs need to be lineup behind the tackle so they can get into the pattern quickly.
what I think works well from I and 3 wr is the lead draw passing game. 6 in the box you run the lead draw 7 in the box you run playaction off the lead draw. what is great about the lead draw game is the pass pro and the run action are the same. you also hold the backers with great fakes.
what is also interesting is the lead draw can be a 5 step or 7 step in playaction.
I figure if I go to the new school they will be a 2 back I team all the time. I'm guessing we'll see mostly 8 and 9 man fronts so I figure we'll be running a lot of curl/flat stuff. I hate to loose the 4 vericle game. Do you know anyway to run it besides fades with the TE post?
Have you considered running the off-set I? now you can get the FB and the TE to run the mesh route, 4 verticals, you can still run all the TE routes i.e. Y stick etc... You may even get better personnel matchups if you can slip a speed kid in at FB and have him matched up against a Lber.
Just a thought.
