Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
I remember sometime last season I was watching NFL Matchup with Jaws. He was talking about the Eagles defensive scheme and why they're able to get such great pressure on the qb. He said that when he asked DC Jim Johnson about it JJ said that the reason they're able to get great pressure is because they attack the blocking schemes (o-line) rather than attack the qb. Could someone better explain this and maybe give an example? Thanks.
we use this concept when blitzing the qb. we look at the protections the offense uses and then attack the protection. for example, if it is slide protection we are gonna work to overload the edges and not run anything inside. if it is bob on one side and slide on the other we would use our blitzes that put their protection schemes in a bind. this forces the qb to know if they can pick up everyone, where the hot is, recognize the hot and get the ball off. one of the first things we do each week is to break down their protection, and how we are gonna attack it; we don't blitz just for the sake of blitzing, we want to make sure we can get to the qb, and knowing the offense's protection schemes certainly helps.

I think what Coach C was looking for is tech on how to attack the Blocker which is the way it was explained to me like this. On any outside pass rush movement once the Defender is past the hip of the blocker he should try to under run the QB leaning to the inside of the hip of the blocker. Which if you player is going against someone with who is determind they will try to wheel out the defender and run him past the QB. On an Inside pass rush movement once the Defender is past the hip of the blocker he should try to over run the QB leaning to the outside of the hip of the blocker. Which if you player is going against someone with who is determind they will try to wall the defender down and get him caught up in all of that trash on the inside. What everway the defender is using his force and the blockers force to propell him into the QB. Also to improve Sack production dont emphsize them emphsize Laydowns which is that they are to runthrough the QB if he has the ball you might get a 15 yarder once a game. But it does two things one they dont pull up on fake pumps and number two it increasses the number of times that the Qb gets hit. "Kill the Head and the Body dies" Joe Green
