I am in the midst of putting together a plan of action for our school district in order for them to help us implement a new budget. We are currently under-funded by the district and as a result do alot of fundraising. Some of the fundraising causes a conflict with other groups. I do not think that our administration understands all the costs associated with running a program the right way. They see us fundraising and look at us as if we are some sort of cash cow. Currently we get $4,500 for equip and supplies and $4,500 for reconditioning and repairs. Every 3 years we get $4,500 for uniforms. We also use fundraising money to supplement for 2 additional stipends. Our program has 150 kids between Frosh, JV and Varsity.
Some questions.....What percentage of helmets get rejected each year in other programs. A helmet that does not pass inspection will mean the cost of a new one? How long do shoulder pads last? How many years until a uniform needs to be replaced? What is a conservative weight room budget that would allow for equipment repairs and some replacements? How many stipends do you get from the district for coaches? Do you have to come up with any stipend money on your own? Any information that could be provided would be helpful.
