Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
If it is as a coach, I'd recommend videos by Dave Christensen, and Art Kehoe. Both are great technicians, and have tapes on Coaches' Choice. I've used them and found the very informative. I've had the experience to watch Art Kehoe coach basics to high school prospects, and the same basics are covered in the video. Christensen is also very well respected. Apparently sometime soon there will be an O-Line video available here as well - and the information here is GREAT for O-Line techniques. I've heard Steve Loney and Nebraska's Milt Tenopir has some videos as well, but I haven't had an opportunity to see them yet.
If you are asking as a player... I'd recommend asking your position coach 1st. Some coaches teach slightly different technique, depending on the schemes they run. For example, some zone coaches will have the butt down in the stance, others prefer flat backs. Also footwork may differe. Your position coach may be able to point you in a really good direction.
The best video I've seen on base run blocking (which I believe is a skill every successful O-Lineman MUST have, despite what your primary blocking philosophy may be) is George DeLeone's "Run Blocking Progression". It's 2 hours on breaking down the fundamentals of stance, steps, fits, and so forth. Very, very good stuff. We use it every day with our OL.
But, coach is right. Check with your position coach too, because everyone does some things a little differently.
