Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We are hoping to put in a few passing plays off of our 10-11 midline looks out of the pro I formation. We have experimented with a quick dump or 8 yard turn route for the TE but it seems as if the TE is getting to deep on the dump or sitting to long before the ball is delivered on Turn.
What type of steps would you recommend for your QB after the traditional FB mesh fake is complete? Would you drop 3 steps back after the mesh therefore putting a delay on the TE release in order to time it up or throw right from the mesh at only about 1 yard deep and have your TE release immediately?
If you could run your te behind the invert, you are really putting a lot of pressure on the defense in my opinion. that player must decide to stop the qb or the tb or the te releasing to him. If you are jill blicking this scheme won;t be as effective. However if you run somthing like this with in. veer play act. then it can be lethal because the te pass route is mimicking the arc release he uses on the veer to the strong side, putting the sam in recognition of the veer. This would be a good play action to back that sam up if you are running inside veer to his side, making the te's block easier. As for midline routes, it may be more complicated due to how you block it. If you Jill it according to Coach Campbell, or base it when the defense adjusts, makes the route change. if you are jilling it you may want the te dump with no drop back steps by the qb. if you are basing with the te you may want to slip him into the flats after banging the end. What i generraly teach my te on pa passes, is to bloock hard for 1 count then release, by then the backers have usually made up thier minds on where their feet will take them.
