Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
We have a way of calling a specific route for the backside split end when in a trips formation, and we throw it to him almost 100% of the time. There are, however, times when the defense will take that away. What do some of you have your trips-side receivers do when throwing backside?
I would drag one underneath to hold the backers run a post or with another to get the free's attention, and if he doubles the backside it should be there. and run a go with the last trip this keeps the trip side corner occupied. You should at least get a one on one Another way is to flood the underneath zones and hit one of the trailing recievers. this worked great for me last year with double slants.
What kind of a route do you want from your split, some type of vertical, or what? That makes all the difference in the world, as we have to know who to influence to give your split the best chance to succeed, so that as coaches we can call the best PATTERN by the other receivers to do just that. Some people use the word "route" and "pattern" as synonyms. Routes never change, but patterns do. A pattern is defined as a set of routes, collectively, with the purpose of influencing the secondary to open up the primary receiver in a favorable way. How are you setting trips, flexed ends with 2 slots, a TE and two receivers on the same side close(bunch)? If you are looking to go deep for the one on one with the CB, tcamps pattern is fine. Are you throwing against a two deep zone or man, for the most part in your league when showing trips? Lot of coaches on this site like to move their FS out of the middle of the field and have him play over the top verses trips. If I'm seeing that, I'm going to influence the FS by running a boundary release go by the flexed end. Outside slot will run a 10 yd. square in, and the inside slot will go in jet motion to the liz side, Qb will pull him just one step past our BST and he will run a drag back to the rip side. If the split doesn't break open, you have three others to choose from!
