Installing Today’s Hybrid Pistol Offense Run & Pass from Top to Bottom
This manual provides you with the full offensive line, receiver, and quarterback mechanics for installing each offensive play presented. Coach Campbell has left no stone unturned for implementing today’s Pistol Offense into your program.
Since so many coaches have different terminology for everything related to the game, I would like to start a thread for verteran coaches and those who are rookies to give their terms and definitions for things related to practice. Here is an example. When a coach writes "shells" on the grease board, some may not know that this means helmets and shoulder pads.
I hope that all the coaches on the list would provide some of their drills, stages of practice, etc. and define them for everyone on the list. Another example would be describe a 7-on-7 drill, or a skeleton drill, etc. These can be for group work or individual position work.
1. PSL - Pre-Snap Look SE- Split End C - Center WILL LINE BACKER(WEAKSIDE LB) 2. PST - Play Side Tackle WR- Wide Receiver WB - Wing Back MIKE LINE BACKER(MIDDLE LB) 3. "Head Hunter"- Hard Tackler! "Squibber"- Kick off that is kicked in such a manner as to make it bounce erratically. "He's a 2 -3-4-5 stepper!"- number of steps it takes a DB to close the distance between himself and receiver. "Thats a 3 move route" - number of breaks in the route stem or route path in other words. "Stemming"- Defensive term that indicates movement of the defense to switch from one defense to another, formation -wise, on the snap.
"Reduce" - defensive term to indicate movement of line tecniques from outside to inside, as from a 9 to a 7 technique reduction ( from the center outward to the TE) "Eagle" - defensive term to indicate movement of line techniques inside i.e 5 to a 4i, etc. on the backside (from the tackle to the center)
"Double Eagle- Defensive term used to describe the movement of reduction on the front side, and eagle on the backside, when it occurs simultaneously.
"Press Coverage" - this simply means MAN coverage with the defense rolled up hard on the receivers.
"Bubbled his path" - term meaning RB or QB was forced by penetration to loop out on his intended direct path to the hole.
Hope these will help y'all along the way.
