Coaches,
I need your help!
Most every year it comes down to my team and and a conference rival for the conference title. Unfortunately we have come up on the short end the last couple of years since this team switched to the 4-3, it is the only team running the 4-3 in our conference. In their 4-3 they play 2 studs at defensive tackle in a head up position on our OG (2 tech), they play a 5 tech to weakside, and a head up (6 tech) on our TE. He jams the heck out of our TE and makes it very difficult for us to release inside for Sam. If we arc release he gets into us and rides us out so that our release is very slow. Our center never seems to cut the Mike backer off on his flow to the off-tackle. Will and Sam align in a 40 tech. The secondary usually plays in a 2 deep look. If we go twins they roll one safety up as an invert and the other safety comes over on top (pre-snap), backside corner rolls back to about 8 yards. In a sense they have 3 DB's to our 2. If we go twins open they will slide their Sam out to an invert position, Mike and Will then slide over and stack behind their DT, the secondary stays in a 2-deep look.
We have had some success running iso out of our twins-open against what amounts to a 4-2 look. However if we stick with that they bring their Sam backer back in to a traditional 4-3 cover 3 look.
We run 2 tights and flanker, pro, twins, twins open as our base formations.
However we can run double slot, trips, trips open, and single back with twins to one side and TE/FL to the other.
We feature midline, IV, OV, load opt, and the basic I game.
I am looking for and welcoming any suggestions on how to attack their defense. Their head-up positions, as oppossed to a 1 and 3 technique, and their 6 technique, has made it very difficult for us.
Thanks in advance for any help.
